Courses Content:
· Principles of rigging and slinging
· Safe rigging and slinging working procedures
· Emergency action plan
· Responsibilities of the Rigger, Signalman and Crane operator
· Construction of wire rope slings, nylon belt slings and chain slings
· Correct use of lifting equipment
· Safe work loads and working load limits
· Lifting known and unknown loads
· Different hitches and the affect various angles have on a load
· Recognition of potential hazards and the recommended safe practices employed to avoid accidents and personal injury
· Standard crane signals, including the “Emergency Stop” signal
· The correct use of tag lines
· Introduction to safe crane set-up
· Inspection, maintenance and storage of rigging equipment
· Lifting component, replacement policy
Standards:
· Local Government and International Safety standards
Theoretical and Practical Training including Evaluation:
Training conducted by way of:-
· 70% Theoretical, and
· 30% Practical basis in the form of hands-on exercises
Training Aids Required (To be supplied by Client):
· Crane with Operator
· Commonly used slings
· A load to be used for practicing of rigging and slinging
