Course Content:

* Principles of rigging and slinging
* Safe rigging and slinging working procedures
* Emergency action plan
* Responsibilities of the Rigger, Signalman and Crane operator
* Construction of wire rope slings, nylon belt slings and chain slings
* Correct use of lifting equipment
* Safe work loads and working load limits
* Lifting known and unknown loads
* Different hitches and the affect various angles have on a load
* Recognition of potential hazards and the recommended safe practices employed to avoid accidents and personal injury
* Standard crane signals, including the “Emergency Stop” signal
* The correct use of tag lines
* Introduction to safe crane set-up
* Inspection, maintenance and storage of rigging equipment
* Lifting component, replacement policy

Standards:

* Local Government and International Safety standards

Theoretical and Practical Training including Evaluation:

Training conducted by way of:-

* 70% Theoretical
* 30% Practical basis in the form of hands-on exercises

Training Aids Required (To be supplied by Client):

* Crane with Operator
* Commonly used slings
* A load to be used for practicing of rigging and slinging
